World War II Veteran

Alfred V. Sirois, 84, of Salem, died Sunday evening in Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of the late Mary S. (Gallant) Sirois.

 

A lifelong resident of Salem, Alfred was the son of the late Alfred and Ora (StAmand) Sirois. World War Two Army Veteran stationed in Hawaii, Alfred returned to the states to graduate from St. Joseph’s Academy.

 

Mr. Sirois had been employed for over thirty years as a mail handler for the US Post Office in Lynn. He retired twenty-two years ago. Alfred was a music enthusiast. He played the harmonica, piano, accordion, and violin and had been a member of the HiLo Band.

 

Surviving are one daughter Joan Farese and her husband Brian of Salem, a son, David Sirois of Salem, five grandchildren; Derek, Douglas, Cody, Jared, and Brian, one great-granddaughter, Sophia and a sister-in-law Eileen Faulkner of Lynn.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to his visiting hours in the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. (Rt. 1A/114) Salem, MA on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service and burial will be private.
