Ann Carol (Matvichuk) McCormack, 75,
of Pepperell, Mass., died Thursday,
September 2, 2010, in the company of her family in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, N.H.
Born in Peabody, June 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Procop
and Mary (Markowsky) Matvichuk, Ann lived in Peabody until 1968 before moving to Salem, where she lived most of her
life. After graduating from Peabody schools, Ann served her country in
the Women’s Army Corps from 1954 to 1956. Later, Ann worked for many years for
Salem State College as a telephone operator until her retirement. Later in
life, Ann lived in Pepperell, Mass., with her daughter Pamela and spent
winters with her daughter Brenda in Laurens, S.C.
She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren,
reading, watching and attending Boston Red Sox games and traveling to the Connecticut
casinos, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She was an avid seamstress,
lovingly making clothing for her children and grandchildren.
Surviving her are two sons, David McCormack
and his wife Sarah of Marblehead and Brian McCormack of Lynn; four daughters,
Brenda Bouchard and her husband Russell of South Carolina, Bonnie McGinn and
her husband David of Florida, Cheryl Wolseley and her husband Chris of
Winthrop, and Pamela St. Amand and her husband Charles of Pepperell, Mass.;
three brothers, Peter and his wife Jean Matvichuk of Peabody, Edward and his
wife Terri Matvichuk of Lynn, and Phil Matvichuk of Peabody; eleven
grandchildren, Lee Fernandez, Amy Manley, Kathleen and Lauren Bouchard,
Kristen, Ryan, and Emily St. Amand, and Flynn, Kyle, Eryn, and Corey McCormack,
and many nieces and nephews. Ann also leaves her dear friend and travel
companion, Donna Tosches. Ann was predeceased by a sister-in-law Julie Matvichuk
formerly of Peabody.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral Mass in
St. John the Baptist Church, Chestnut St. Peabody, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to the American Diabetes Association through www.diabetes.org.
