Armand “Stitch” Tardiff, 80, of Topsfield, formerly
of Salem, died Tuesday night in Salem Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Paula (Auger) Tardiff.
Armand was born in Salem the son of the late Leo and Aurore
(Taillon) Tardiff. He graduated from St. Joseph’s grammar school in Salem and St. John’s Prep. in Danvers, where he is a member of the
Tri-Sport Hall of Fame having excelled in football, basketball and baseball. Stitch continued on to receive his Bachelor’s
Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston.
A veteran, Armand was a member of the U.S. Coast
Guard during the Korean War. After his
service, Armand was employed for many years between Sylvania Electric, the
U.S.M. Corp., and Black and Decker all of Beverly.
He retired in 1990 living in Salem most of his life having moved to
Topsfield 12 years ago. Stitch loved to play golf and was a member of the
Beverly Golf and Tennis Club in Beverly, MA.
He leaves his loving daughter, Patricia Taviverdian
and her husband Robert of Swampscott, two granddaughters; Nicole and Michelle
Taviverdian, one brother Reginald Tardiff and his wife Cynthia of Georgetown
and one sister, Sister Claire Tardiff of Sisters of the Assumption in
Worcester, and nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Berube and Sons
Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA (Rt.1A / 114) Monday at 8 a.m. followed by
a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave. Salem, Monday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and
friends are invited. Visiting hours are
Sunday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may
