Billy “Red” Legault, 68, of Pioneer Terrace, Salem, died under the care of Hospice, at
his home Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 following a lengthy illness.
Billy was born in Salem, the son of the late John Legault
and Estelle (Mallet) Legault Lareau and had been a resident of Salem all his life.
Red was well known around the city of Salem.
For many years, he was associated with Fred Thibault at Big Fred’s Roast
Beef, the Salem Car Wash and the Bridgeside Restaurant. Red also had many friends from the downtown
Dunkin Donuts in Salem. He had been
employed for many years as a truck driver with several trucking companies and
for a time, worked as a donut maker at Priscilla’s Donuts.
Red loved boating, fishing, and playing Bingo. He
also enjoyed automobile detailing. Most
of all, Red loved the company of all the dogs he has had over the years.
He is survived by three sisters; Vivian Belisle of Newton, NH, Estelle Godjikian of Salem, and Paula Lareau of Salem, two brothers; Albert of Beverly,
and Leo of Peabody, and a close friend Ricky Thomas of Salem, and many nieces and nephews. Red was the father of the late Brian Legault
and brother of the late Richard, Robert, John, Wilbert, Edward, and Shirley
Legault, and step son of the late Joseph Lareau.
A memorial visitation will be held in the Berube &
Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, (Rt.1A/114) Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. Relatives and
friends are invited. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
