Mrs. Claire Nee

Mrs. Claire (LaBrie) Nee, 73, of Swampscott, formerly of West Circle, Salem died Thursday in the Kaplan Hospice House, Danvers after a long illness.   She was the wife of Thomas Nee Sr., with whom she celebrated forty-five years of marriage, and was the daughter of the late Euclid “Whitey” and Alma (Gagnon) Labrie. 

She was born and lived most of her life in Salem before moving to Swampscott five years ago.   Claire was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, Salem class of 1954 and Burdett College, class 1956.   She had worked as a secretary in the pathology lab at Salem Hospital, the engineering department at Sylvania and then for 10 years at Salem Paper before retiring ten years ago.

Surviving her are one son and his wife Thomas Jr. and Ellen Nee, of Boxford, two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Tim Byrne of Swampscott and Paula and Stephen Webb of Salem, eight grandchildren; Cameron, Brandon and Jackson Byrne of Swampscott, Ryan, Connor and Tucker Nee of Boxford, Colin and Shannon Webb of Salem, one brother Paul and his wife Patricia LaBrie of Salem, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.

Her funeral will be held from the Berube and Sons Funeral Home 191 Lafayette St. (Rt.1A/114) Salem, Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church Hawthorne Blvd at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends cordially invited.   Visiting hours are Monday from 4-8 p.m.   Donations in her memory may be made to Kaplan Hospice House, c/o Hospice of the North Shore 75 Sylvan St. Danvers MA 01923.
