David Milton “Captain Dave” Brubaker, 53, died unexpectedly
at his home in Salem, MA
on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
Davy was born in Sioux City,
Iowa, on September 1, 1955.
He was the 2nd child of 7, born to David and MaryAnn
Brubaker. He attended St.
Joseph Catholic School,
Woodrow Wilson Junior High and graduated in 1973 from CentralHigh School, all in Sioux
City. He also
graduated from Western Iowa Tech’s piano tuning course and attended Berkley
College of Music in Boston for
several years majoring in music. He has
lived in Salem, MA
since 1984.
Besides enjoying a good time and being an entertainer, Davy
worked in construction, drove a taxi, worked as a parking attendant for Fenway
Park and owned and operated a
courier business is the Salem
area. David also served his country in
the US Army. Davy will always be
remembered as having a very big heart, a gracious soul, and a great love for
music. Dave was the kind of person that
if you gave him a nickel, he’d pay you back a dime.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Brubaker, and his
brothers; Craig and Robin all of Sioux City, IA, and Scott Brubaker of
Minnesota, his sisters; Angie and her husband Dave Via, and Lisa and her
husband Jay Schenzel also of Sioux City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his older sister Maureen, his father David,
and both sets of grandparents, among others.
