Eileen J. (Leahy) Hanley, 85, formerly of Lynn, died Feb. 19,
2009 in the
Pilgrim Nursing Home, Peabody. She was
the wife of the late Joseph Hanley with whom she had been married for 40 years
before his passing in 1986.
Born in Boston the daughter of the late Thomas C.
and Della T. (Cahill) Leahy, Eileen was a longtime resident of Lynn before moving to Salem thirty years ago. Mrs. Hanley worked for the Lynn Public Schools in the custodial department for
many years. She was a member of the AOH
in Lynn and was also an active member of
the Salem Senior Center in Salem, and enjoyed spending time
crocheting and reading.
She was the devoted mother to two sons, Joseph T.
Hanley and his wife Katherine of Peabody, and James A. Hanley and his wife
Janice of Danvers, and a daughter, Theresa F. Avery of Salem, and the loving
grandmother of Leo, Jarrett, Joel, and Jillian Hanley, and Christina Brehob and
her husband Geoff Brehob and was the great-grandmother of A. Wade and Audrey T.
Brehob.
Her funeral will be held form the Berube and Sons
Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA (Rt.1A/114) Monday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave. Salem Monday at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and
friends are invited. Visiting hours are
Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
