Elizabeth (Droney) Iarrobino 93, of Marblehead, wife for over fifty years of the late Anthony
Iarrobino, died March 3, 2009 following a short illness.
Born in Milford, MA, Elizabeth
graduated from Milford High
School and then
Massachusetts School (now College) of Art, where she met her husband to
be. They married in 1941. She worked at
Forbes Lithograph in her husband’s place during his military service. They joined Folly Cove Designers, a
guild begun by Virginia Demetrios in Rockport, MA making linoleum block print designs on fabric from
1948 to 1960. They were founding members
of the Art Guild of Marblehead and were active in the Marblehead Arts Association,
and the annual Marblehead Festival of Arts.
After her sons were grown Elizabeth went back to school at Salem State College and
Massachusetts College of Art to obtain education credentials. She then
taught art and design for fifteen years at Lasell Junior College, retiring as Associate Professor in 1985. She
and her husband enjoyed an active retirement involved in art and hobbies.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons, Anthony Iarrobino and his
wife Gail Charpentier of Cambridge, and Paul Iarrobino
of Marblehead, a grandson Michael Iarrobino of Marblehead, and a granddaughter
Nia, two sisters, Dorothy Droney of Westborough, and Mary Skattie of Killdevill
Hills, NC. Two nieces, Susan McCallum of Hopedale, Donna Bodio of Albuquerque,
NM, and a nephew John Moore of Westerly, RI, and a sister-in-law Florence Reed of Peabody. She was the sister of the late Barbara
Moore, and Helen Salvia
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7 at 10 am at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. A gathering of remembrance will be held at
Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette Street Salem, Friday, March 6 at 7
to 9 PM.
