G. Dolores (Pierce) Hawkes, 73, of Ipswich, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at her home. She was the loving wife of Robert Hawkes for 51 years.

Dolores was born in Salem the daughter of the late Guy and Geraldine (Gagnon) Pierce. A resident of Salem until she married Bob, they lived in Lynnfield for 37 years. For the past 17 years they lived in Ipswich. She was a passionate golfer and loved to play locally at Ipswich CC and New Meadows GC as well as around her winter home in Mesa, AZ.

Her signature style was any one of her many matching gloves and visors she would select from the trunk of her car before a round. An accomplished bowler, Dolores also loved to knit, read and was an avid Bruins fan.

Surviving in addition to her husband Bob Hawkes Sr., the President of Redmond Concrete Construction Co. of Rowley, are two sons, Robert Hawkes Jr. of Rowley, and Laurence Hawkes of Haverhill, one daughter Debora and her husband Charles Bamforth of East Hampstead, NH, six grandchildren; Craig and Ariana Bamforth, Robert Hawkes III, Allie, Brie and Ava Hawkes and one brother Donald Pierce and his wife Kyle of Great Barrington, MA.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service and burial were private. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at the clubhouse at the Ipswich Country Club, 148 Country Club Way (off Rt. 1) Ipswich, Saturday morning, December 24, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923.
