Irene (Cote) Plourde, 89, of
Salem, died Wednesday morning, March 30, 2011 in Blueberry Hill
Nursing Home in Beverly. She was the wife of Roger Plourde.
Irene was born
in L’Isle Verte, Canada, the daughter of the late Emilia
(Theriault) and Omer Cote. She worked for Sylvania in Salem for
twelve years and for Salem State College for four years. Irene was a
great home maker for her husband and children. She enjoyed knitting
and crocheting and would share her talents helping the fair at Ste.
Anne’s Church where she has been a long time member.
Along with her
husband, Roger Plourde of Salem, Irene is survived by three
daughters; Georgette Gagnon and her husband Leon of Maine, Suzanne
Krol and her husband Benny of Salem, and Joanne Collorone and her
husband Richard of Danvers, eleven grandchildren, eleven
great-grandchildren, a sister, Cecile Roy and her husband Roger of
Salem, and several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by four
sisters and a brother.
Visitation will
be held in the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. (Rt.
1A/114) Salem, Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in
Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave. Salem Monday at 10 a.m. followed by
burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Irene's name to Hospice of the North Shore or to Alzheimer's Association.
