James G.
McNiff, 93, of Salem, died Saturday morning in Grosvenor Park Nursing
in Salem. He was the husband of the late Annette G. (Levasseur)
McNiff.
Jim was born in
'The Brickyard,' Alley St. in Lynn, the son of the late Daniel and
Adelle (Caussault) McNiff. He had been a resident of Lynn prior to
moving to Salem in 1953 and served in the US Army during WWII as an
MP. A well known musician, Jim played the saxophone and clarinet and
was a private instructor from his home and through Berkeley College
of Music in Boston. Jim had been employed at the former Shawmut Bank
in Salem and was also a project manager at Stone & Webster in
Boston. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and
friends are invited to his funeral Mass in Ste. Anne's Church,
Jefferson Ave. Salem, Thursday at 10 am. The burial will be in St.
Jean Cemetery, Lynn. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are
by the Berube and Sons Funeral Home of Salem.
