John “Buddy” Payne, 69, of Salem, died Wednesday night, August 4, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.
Buddy was born in Boston the son of the late Raymond Payne and Anne (McKeough) Levy. He has been a resident of Salem for many years and until his retirement was a lobster
fisherman for over 25 years.
During the 1970s Buddy
coached Salem Midget Football, Rec. Baseball, and Salem Youth Hockey. He was also an avid hunter in his spare time.
Mr. Payne is survived
by four sons; John Payne and his wife Maureen of Salem, Mackenzie Payne of
Middleton, and Patrick Payne and Christopher Payne both of Maine, two
daughters; Deborah Kolodziej and her husband David of Lakeland, FL, and Lisa
Kent and her husband Rick of Peabody, three sisters; Kay Vandal, wife of the
late Robert Vandal of ME, Annie Archibald of ME, and Linda Levy, wife of the
late Red Lacourciere of Newburyport, seven grandchildren; Dylan, Taylor, and
Brandon Payne, Courtney and Cameron Kent, and Joshua and Jessica Kolodziej,
seven step-grandchildren; Shannon and Joe Lane, Derek Field, Shane Field and his wife Kristen,
Erin and Greg Ford, eight step-great-grandchildren; Brianna, Kayla, Madison,
Christian, Shane Jr., Nathaniel, Ava, and Braylan and many nieces and
nephews. Buddy is also survived by his
closest friend Ruth Callahan.
A private funeral
service was held in the Berube and Sons Funeral Home in Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to the
