SALEM — Lucien J. Labrecque, 92, of Salem, died on Tuesday, July 28,
2009 at the Lafayette Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Home,
Marblehead. The family is deeply grateful to the wonderful staff at the
Lafayette for their loving and compassionate care and support.
Lucien was the husband of Rita M. (Pelletier) Labrecque with whom she would have shared 62 years of marriage on Sept. 1, 2009.
Lucien
attended Salem schools and was a member of Les Canadiens baseball team.
A veteran, Mr. Labrecque served in the Army with the 24th Coast
Artillery Battalion during World War II. After the war, he started his
own business in hardwood floors and retired in 1994.
A former
member of St. Joseph Parish, Salem and the Holy Name Society, Lucien
was a parishioner of St. James Parish. He was a very humble and pious
man and was devoted to his family.
In addition to his wife, he
is survived by three daughters, Marguerite Labrecque, Patricia Wenzel
and her husband Mark, and Celeste Labrecque, all of Salem; and three
sons, Richard Labrecque and his wife Janet of Lynn, Andre Labrecque and
his wife Cheryl of Holden, and Daniel Labrecque and his wife Heidi of
Gloucester. Lucien is also survived by 11 grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Labrecque
was predeceased by a son, Clement Labrecque; nine brothers, Philip,
Albert, Paul, George, Clement, Arthur, Maurice, Roland, Armand (Babe)
Labrecque; and two sisters, Lucille St. Pierre Theriault and Theresa
Theriault. Lucien was the last surviving member of the Louis and Leda
Labrecque family.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from
the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. (Route 1A/114)
Salem, Friday at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. James
Church, Federal Street, Salem, at noon. Relatives and friends are
invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to:
Cerebral Palsy of Eastern Mass. in honor of Celeste Labrecque, Lucien
and Rita's daughter, at 103 Johnson St., Lynn, MA 01902 or to a charity
of one's choice.
