Richard "Rich" Dube, 55, of Salem, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at home. He
was the husband of the late Donna (Hayden) Dube, and grandfather of the late
Sapphyre Perro.
Rich was born in Peabody the
son of Lucien Dube and Georgette (Joly) (Dube) Ingemi. He was a graduate of Salem High School, and Newbury Junior
College and
attended Worcester Poly Tech. Mr. Dube
had been employed for over forty years as an optician. He loved to fish and enjoyed cooking and
gardening.
He was a member of the Lions
Club, the American Board of Opticianry, and the New England Contact Lens
Society. An altruistic man, Rich
traveled to South America where he was involved in charity work. He also donated his hair to "Locks of Love."
Rich is survived by his
daughter, Rachel Dube of Worcester, a son Jonathan Dube of Berwick, ME, his
mother, Georgette Ingemi and her husband Joseph Ingemi of Salem, his father,
Lucien Dube and his wife Lucy of Plymouth, MA, two sisters; Suzanne Zimbaldi of
Swampscott, and Collette Dube of Salem, three brothers; Donald Dube and his
wife Paula of Naples, FL, and Norman Dube and his wife Mary Lee of Lynn, and
Robert Dube and his wife Judy of Salem, and many nieces and nephews.
His
funeral will be from the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. (Rt.1A/114) Salem, MA, Tuesday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne's
Church, Jefferson Ave, Salem at 9 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited.
Visiting hours are Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial
will be private. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to Volunteer Optometric Services to
