SALEM — Rose (St. Amand) Julien passed away unexpectedly at the age
of 95 on Thursday, May 7, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was
the wife of the late Edward Julien.
Rose was born in Salem, the
daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Louise (Blanchette) St. Amand.
She was the mother of Evelyn (Mrs. John A.) Walsh of Salem, Emelie
(Mrs. Phillip G.) Bonin, of Foxboro, and Lorraine (Mrs. John) Raleigh
of Hampton, N.H. She also leaves behind a sister, Jeannette St. Amand
of Peabody, a sister-in-law Henrietta St. Amand of Salem, as well as
eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild, 14 great-grandchildren, six
step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Rose was
predeceased by her siblings; Eva Lavoie, Ora Sirois, Helena LaVallee,
Yvonne Boudreault, Lucien St. Amand, Rene St.Amand and Raymond St. Amand.
A
homemaker most of her life, she worked part time at the house of Seven
Gables and for a short time at Almy's department store. In her later
years Rose was an active member of the Salem Council on Aging, sang
with the "Golden Tones" and performed with the "Showstoppers." Rose was
also a member of the local AARP Chapter 2454 and loved to play cards
and BINGO.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated
in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, Thursday,
May 14 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be prior the Mass in the Berube and
Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Route 1A/114, Salem from 8:30 to
9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Street, Salem. To
honor Rose's wishes, please do not send flowers. Instead, one may
provide for a Mass to be said in her memory or send a donation in her
name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,
Memphis, TN 38105, or to the House of the Seven Gables Settlement, 114
Derby St., Salem, MA 01970 or to the Friends of the Salem Council on
Aging, 5 Broad St., Salem, MA 01970.
