Vincente Scarpatte, 89, of Salem,
died Monday evening, Nov. 15, 2010 in Salem Hospital following a long
illness. He was the husband of Ana (Gonzalez) Scarpatte.
Born in
Dominican Republic, Vincente was the son of the late Vincente and Ana
Mercedes (Frederick) Scarpatte. As a young man, Vincente was a well
known and talented baseball player. He moved to the Salem area in
1982 and has lived in Peabody and Salem until his passing but was
always very proud of his heritage and of the Dominican Republic.
Vincente was a longtime employee of Parker Brothers in Salem.
He is survived
by his daughters; Diana Lugo, Marlene Maloon and her husband Brad,
Laura Scarpatte and her boyfriend Chris Bell, and Greicy Scarpatte,
all of Salem, MA, Eira Gonzalez and her husband Jose of NC,
Anna-Victoria Gaton of NY, and Francis Gaston of the Dominican
Republic, sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and
nieces and nephews.
His funeral
will be held from the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St.
(Rt.1A/114) Salem, Friday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at
St. John the Baptist Church, Chestnut St. Peabody at 11 a.m. Burial
will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are
invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
