SALEM — Mrs. Yvonne (Roy) LaBrie, 94, beloved wife of the late Rudolph "Rudy" LaBrie with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem, after a long illness.

She was born in St. Clement, PQ, Canada, on May 16 1915, the daughter of the late Cyprien and Lucia (Gamache) Roy but moved to Salem at a young age and has been a resident since. She graduated from St. Joseph's School. She was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph's Church and was a member of its Dames de la Ste Famille. Yvonne was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she enjoyed knitting for her family.

She is survived by one son, Reverend Robert Labrie, Chaplain at Salem and Union Hospitals; two daughters and their husbands, Jeannine and Fred Berube of Fryeburg, Maine and Rita and Paul McKenzie of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Grinnings and her husband Lester of Newburyport and Rhodes "Rhody" Berube and his wife Elizabeth of Marblehead; two step grandchildren, Rod Berube and his wife Lynnette of North Attleboro and Amy Lucas and her husband John of Newbury; four great-grandchildren, Victoria, Abigail, and Phineas Grinnings and Holden Berube; three step great-grandchildren, Lauren and Megan Berube and Patty Lucas; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Sirice, Wilfred, Gerald, Joseph, Marie, Alice, Cecile and Therese Roy, Lea Demers, Jeanne Belanger and Marion Lazzaro.

Yvonne's family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Grosvenor Park Nursing Center Salem who provided wonderful, loving and compassionate care to Yvonne during her last months. The family is forever grateful for their kindness.

ARRANGEMENTS: Mrs. Labrie's funeral will be held from the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Salem (Route 1A/114) on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the St James Church, Salem at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contribution may be made in her memory to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, 211 Main St., Petersham, MA 01366 or to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
